Hello From Isolation.
Amidst the concerns surrounding the COVID19 virus and Governor Inslee's Stay At Home directive, I have closed my downtown Seattle and Des Moines, WA offices. I am currently hoping to reopen in a few weeks, but ofcourse will be following the guidance of the Department of Health and Washington State.
I will continue to provide services to any client that would like to participate via telehealth. I have had an online behavioral practice since being certified in 2011. Although I have taken many courses over those years, I have chosen to take this time at home and complete a full recertification to continue to provide ethical and responsible telehealth services. I utilize a HIPAA compliant secure telehealth platform through Simple Practice and have a telehealth guide to assist you in understanding what is needed for our sessions. This easy platform can be utilized on a desktop, laptop, table or smartphone. I recommend using the wired Ethernet whenever possible, this is what I use, to get the best connection.
With the most recent order from Governor Inslee, I know you are in your home with family members, roommates or others and it can be difficult to find privacy and comfort to have much needed sessions. I suggest always utilizing your headphones and private space for our sessions. However, sometimes thinking outside of the box for your appointment is needed: take a walk (healthy choice!), sit in your car, or sit in your yard if possible.
Now is not the time to put aside your mental health. These are complicated and stressful times in Seattle, our country, and our world. It is important to develop routine, minimize the use of substances, reduce utilization of social media/unreliable news sources and stay consistent with your health, both physical and mental. I do not usually offer 30 minutes appointments but will also offer these if needed to just check in.
I have added a few resources that I believe could be helpful to you during these times and will continue to post on my facebook and twitter. Please do not hesitate to contact me via email if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your understanding and patience. I will let you all know when the offices will reopen. Please be safe and stay healthy.
