Skye Macrae Curtis, EdM/MA, LMHCA

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate

Hello, and welcome! I don't know how to phrase this without sounding pretentious, but if you're looking for concrete solutions to the daily distresses caused by institutional marginalization, you've come to the right therapist. I'm always thrilled for the opportunity to collaboratively counsel clients around identity development areas like race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age, religion, documentation status, mental and physical disability, socioeconomic status, and anything else you feel defines you. I believe that a strong therapist/client relationship is integral to healing, and as such, I try to collaborate with my clients on a transparent and personal level, so that when I challenge you to grow into your best self, you'll know that it comes from an earnest base of compassion, commitment, and care. I went to a rural Lutheran college in the cornfields of Minnesota and received my Bachelor's in Women's & Gender Studies, English, and Psychology, and my midwestern roots mean that I'm always happy to discuss the intersection of spirituality and multicultural identity. I then went off to New York City (where there were substantially fewer cows) for grad school, and got two Master's degrees from Columbia University in multicultural counseling psychology. Now that I've made my way out to the beautiful Pacific Northwest, I'm looking for clients that are ready for an energetic, person-centered counselor. I'm a kink-positive, poly-affirming therapist, with extensive experience working with clients who identify all over, across, and beyond the gender and sexuality spectrums. I'm passionate about my work around sexual trauma and resilience, both for survivors and those accused of assault. When not in private practice, I work at Seattle Central College's new counseling center, where I'm grateful for the opportunity to attend to the social and emotional wellbeing of non-traditional college students. In the words of Albus Dumbledore, "Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light"-- if you're looking for a little more light in your life, send me a message and we'll see what we can accomplish together!
